The Chair of Environmental Ethics arises as part of the mutual interest of Tatiana Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno Foundation and the University of Alcalá. The TPGB Foundation has among its priority objectives the study and promotion of environmental values, while the University of Alcalá has extensive experience in environmental studies in Spain (it was the second to implement these studies, even before it was approved as regulated degree for the whole country). After several months of mutual contacts, it was decided in April 2013 that the collaboration between the TPGB Foundation and the University of Alcalá would materialize in the creation of this research chair, which was formalized in an agreement signed between both institutions in May 2013. Days later, the official presentation of the Chair was held, with the assistance of the Rector and Vice-Rector for Research, on behalf of the UAH, and the President and other patrons of the TPGB Foundation. This agreement has a term of seven years, ending in 2020.
Since the beginning, we have started to organize the activities of the chair, launched this website, initiated a YouTube channel, a Blog, and some reference sites on the most popular social medias (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn).
Regarding our activities, during the past years, we have promoted several lines of work-research and academic activities: summer courses, training (transversal course on environmental ethics), specialist seminars, documents, and research projects.
